UAE President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Abu Dhabi, with discussions centred on regional security developments and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place during Meloni’s visit to the UAE, at a time when tensions across the Middle East are raising concerns over stability, energy flows, and global trade routes.

Both leaders reviewed the current regional situation, including its impact on maritime security and energy supplies. The issue has taken on added importance in recent weeks, as disruptions in the region continue to influence global markets.

The talks also addressed attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure in the region. The UAE described these as violations of sovereignty and international law, while Meloni reiterated Italy’s condemnation of such incidents and expressed solidarity with the UAE.

She also backed the UAE’s efforts to safeguard its security and protect its territory, underscoring Rome’s support amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty.

Alongside security, the two sides focused on expanding bilateral ties, particularly in economic and development areas. Both leaders emphasized their commitment to building on the existing strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, and key growth sectors.

Senior UAE officials were also present at the meeting, including H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflecting the importance of the engagement.

The visit signals continued momentum in UAE-Italy relations, with both sides looking to deepen cooperation while navigating a complex regional and global environment.
