The UAE leader highlighted the country’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, citing its foreign policy rooted in dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. “Since its founding, the UAE has pursued a consistent foreign policy based on dialogue and understanding,” he noted, adding that the nation continues to support sustainable development and humanitarian efforts globally.
Sheikh Mohammed also underscored the UAE’s active role in combating terrorism, countering hate speech, and delivering humanitarian aid. “The United Nations was founded eight decades ago as a global umbrella safeguarding humanity’s right to peace, justice, and dignity,” he said. “Today, it carries the responsibility to renew its pledge to humanity.”
The UAE joined the United Nations in December 1971, just days after its formation, and has since played an increasingly prominent role in the organization. It served on the UN Security Council during the 1986–1987 and 2022–2023 terms, contributing to key discussions on climate change, peacekeeping, and international law.
The United Nations, established in 1945 in the aftermath of World War II, now comprises 193 member states and remains central to global efforts in conflict prevention, human rights, and sustainable development.
