As global demand for personalised and effective healthcare rises, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) is preparing to host Abu Dhabi Global Health Week (ADGHW) from April 15–17, 2025, bringing together top minds in healthcare, technology, research, and policy to focus on enhancing both lifespan and healthspan.
Global Longevity and Precision Medicine Initiative Unveiled
One of the major highlights of the event will be the launch of a global initiative focused on longevity science and precision medicine. The initiative is expected to spark international collaboration and innovation in next-generation medical technologies. Its goal: to drive wider adoption of personalised healthcare solutions that improve health outcomes and extend healthy life expectancy.
This comes at a crucial time—while global life expectancy has risen to 71 years, people still spend an average of 9.6 years in poor health due to chronic illnesses, underlining the urgency for solutions that prioritise not just living longer, but living healthier.
A Vision for Intelligent, Global Healthcare
Ahead of the event, H.E. Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, stated,
“We’re focused on delivering personalised, preventative care that helps people live healthier and more fulfilling lives. We’re inviting the world to join us in co-creating the next era of health—powered by data, driven by collaboration, and enabled by transformative technology like AI.”
Abu Dhabi’s proactive approach to healthcare innovation is backed by world-class institutions, AI-driven research, and strategic global partnerships. The emirate is positioning itself as a leader in healthcare transformation through initiatives that promote equitable access to cutting-edge treatments and disease prevention strategies.
Tangible Progress on the Ground
Abu Dhabi’s commitment to longevity is already showing results. The emirate recently licensed the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD)—the first of its kind globally—as a Healthy Longevity Medicine Centre. This centre delivers AI-enabled, personalised care designed to extend healthy lifespan, manage chronic conditions, and support mental well-being.
This was followed by the launch of the Healthy Longevity Innovation Forum and the region’s first regulatory framework for longevity-focused medical centres, setting a new benchmark for governance in healthcare innovation.
