The beach may be quiet, and the final chapter of The Summer I Turned Pretty may be on its way, but fans are louder than ever, and asking one question that’s dominated the fandom since day one: Will Belly end up with Conrad or Jeremiah?

After three seasons of heartbreak, love triangles, and coming-of-age chaos, Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that The Summer I Turned Pretty will wrap up with a feature film, directed by series co-showrunner and original author Jenny Han. The news dropped just a day after the Season 3 finale — and brought back the one storyline fans can’t stop debating: Belly’s final choice.

Fans on the internet have said that in We’ll Always Have Summer, the final book in Jenny Han’s series, Belly chooses Conrad Fisher, after years of emotional tug-of-war between him and his brother, Jeremiah. The book ends with a heartfelt, beachside wedding and a full-circle moment for the couple that started it all. And just like this, for years, fans assumed that same arc would play out onscreen. However, the series has made several changes, adding complexity and depth, and at times, diverging entirely from the source material.

A Wedding… Missing?

The Season 3 finale left viewers hanging. No rings. No vows. No definitive choice. But in the end, the chemistry, the spark, the unsaid feelings, obviously had to strike the right chord. A stark contrast to the book’s ending, and one that sent fans into a spiral. Speculation exploded online, with one theory rising above the rest: the wedding was being saved for the movie. And now, with Jenny Han confirming the film, all eyes are on how this beloved story will wrap.

Jenny Han Speaks Out

In a recent interview on NBC’s Today, Han addressed the frenzy, without giving too much away. “There is another big milestone for Belly, so we’ll continue with that journey,” While she didn’t confirm a wedding, she hinted at something meaningful ahead. She also revealed that she and co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka have already completed a first draft of the script.
