A fire broke out Monday morning at a demolition site near Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, according to Kyodo News. Emergency services were alerted around 9:10 AM local time after black smoke was seen rising from a former hangar building in Ota Ward, roughly 1.2 kilometers northwest of Terminal 3.

The blaze, which engulfed approximately 900 square meters of the building’s roof, was fully extinguished within two hours. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries, and air traffic operations at the airport remained unaffected throughout the incident.

At least 20 workers were reportedly present at the site when the fire started, which is believed to have ignited during the cutting of metal poles. Tokyo police and fire officials continue to investigate the cause.
