The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club announced that over 90 dhows will compete in the Areeila 60ft Dhow Sailing Race, with AED 4,238,000 in prize money awarded down to 90th place.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the race is set to begin tomorrow.
Spanning 25 nautical miles, the course will conclude in front of the club’s Abu Dhabi headquarters.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Director of Traditional Sports at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, lauded the strong registration turnout and emphasized adherence to race rules, dhow specifications, and safety standards.
