Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), the university is completing preparations to host the Arab-German Conference on Science and Humanities, set to take place from 17 to 20 November 2025.

The conference will bring together over 100 distinguished researchers and academics representing more than 40 universities and research institutions from across the Arab world and Germany.

Organised in collaboration with the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), the four-day event will feature multiple sessions, including one at the University of Khorfakkan on the third day. The initiative is supported by prestigious partners such as the United Arab Emirates University, Sultan Qaboos University, Cambridge University, Technical University of Munich, and Cairo University.

Aimed at strengthening research collaboration and building sustainable scientific partnerships, the conference will cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, including health sciences, technology and space, innovation, sustainable smart cities, and social and human sciences.

One of the conference’s key objectives is to empower emerging researchers by fostering long-term networks, encouraging knowledge exchange, and supporting joint projects that address pressing global and regional research challenges.

The event will gather university leaders, experts, and specialists from the UAE, Germany, and the wider Arab region, alongside representatives from UNESCO and the World Bank.

Among the prominent speakers are Prof. Thomas Silveira (Harvard University), Prof. Claudia Derichs (Humboldt University, Germany), Dr. Gina El Feki (President, Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt), Dr. Bassam Alam Eldin (Director, American University of Ras Al Khaimah), Dr. Mohamed Yahya (Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mauritania), and Dr. Erik Hansalik (German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space).

Throughout the four days, participants will engage in scientific sessions and interactive workshops addressing crucial topics such as water sustainability, the role of higher education in international partnerships, innovation in space exploration, and the contribution of universities to sustainable development.

Serving as a strategic international platform, the conference aims to promote dialogue between young Arab and German scholars, encouraging collaborative research that advances sustainable growth and global knowledge exchange.

Headquartered in Berlin, the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) plays a pivotal role in connecting young Arab researchers with German academic institutions. AGYA also operates a regional office in Egypt and plans to open a new office at the University of Sharjah, which will coordinate its activities across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
