Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports announced on Monday the details of the 10th Zayed Charity Run, scheduled for 26 December in Sheikh Zayed City, Giza. The event is being organised in cooperation with the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Run, with this year’s proceeds directed to the Egyptian Food Bank.

During a press conference, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, said the race has become an important symbol of humanitarian and sports cooperation between Egypt and the UAE. He noted that it underscores the strength of bilateral relations and highlights how sports can be used to create positive social impact.

He added that the ministry is dedicating its resources to ensure the event reflects the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He confirmed that the venue is fully prepared to receive a large number of participants and that all funds raised will support the Food Bank’s initiatives.

Mohsen Sarhan Ali, CEO of Egyptian Food Bank, said the organisation’s involvement reflects its commitment to community support, noting that its role extends beyond food assistance to backing initiatives that serve vulnerable families and promote volunteerism.

The race course will run from the Zayed 2000 entrance to ZED Park and includes a 10km race, a 5km race for amateur runners and People of Determination, and a 5km wheelchair race for professional athletes.

Previous editions have seen significant turnout: 10,000 participants in Cairo in 2015 and 2016, 10,000 in Luxor in 2017, 15,000 in Ismailia in 2018, 15,000 in Suez in 2019, 20,000 in Alexandria in 2022, 25,000 in the New Administrative Capital in 2023, and 50,000 in 2024, showing the event’s rising popularity.
