UAE Informs Private Firms To Ensure Workers’ Safety Due To Unstable Weather Conditions

UAE has called on private sector companies across the country to be cautious and take all the safety precautions at their workplaces on Thursday and Friday, on December 18 and 19.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), in a statement, emphasised the need to ensure that the health and safety of the workers, and more so those who are involved in the outdoor work, since it might be difficult to carry on with the work during unfavourable weather conditions.

Employers were encouraged to critically evaluate the risks and mitigate them through proper preventive measures to safeguard employees.

Companies have been requested to strive to comply with the requirements of occupational health and safety fully within working hours, and during the commuting of the employees to work sites and out of the workplace.

The Ministry mentioned that effective planning and compliant safety measures are the key to the minimization of possible hazards during times of extreme or unstable weather.

The UAE has welcomed winter in all its splendor, with residents in some sections of the country waking up to hail, heavy rains, and overcast skies, which is a mark of the amplification of unpredictable weather in the Emirates.

The eastern parts of the country, which are first to receive the blow of such weather, have already been experiencing flowing valleys and heavy showers since the early morning hours of Thursday, December 18.

National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that the unpredictable weather conditions will not end, and varying amounts of rain will be showered with lightning, thunder, and hail across small portions of the country. The stormy weather is likely to extend to Friday, December 19, 2025.

Police authorities across the UAE have provided a warning to residents, motorists, and delivery drivers about the dangerous weather.

Dubai Police encouraged citizens to avoid beaches, avoid sailing, avoid valleys, flood-prone and low-lying places, be cautious on the roads, and follow the instructions given by the relevant officials. The authority further reminded the residents of emergency contact numbers that they can consider during these turbulent times.
