Sharjah Police has completed its security, traffic, and operational preparations for the New Year 2026 festivities, after a coordination meeting chaired by Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal, Director General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support.
The meeting consulted on detailed security and traffic strategies aimed at guaranteeing public safety during the celebrations, such as the deployment of more police in strategic places like the event and celebration venue, the fireworks launch site, and the public facilities and major highways.
Other preparations would involve ensuring that the operations rooms are ready on a 24/7 basis, with trained personnel and advanced technological systems that can assist in responding fast and effectively to handle the reports and emergencies during the period of the festivals.
Brigadier General Al Ghazal emphasized the need to enhance on-ground coordination with strategic partners and put all the preventive measures in place to ensure a safe and stable environment throughout the New Year celebrations.
He encouraged the masses to adhere to the order and advice given by police officers at event sites, act responsibly and civilized, avoid negative practices, and cooperate fully with security and traffic teams to ensure their own safety and that of others.
The Director General also reinforced the preparedness of the call centers in Sharjah Police, 999 responding to emergencies and 901 responding to non-emergencies, to handle enquiries and reports efficiently and professionally.
He stated that the drive is part of the continuous drive to promote the safety of the people and also favors the quality of life in the emirate in the course of the celebrations.
