The organising committee of the Livestock Festival has recognised 25 winners in the “Best Breeds” competitions, which included specialised categories within the Najdi breed such as Best Ten Ewes (Elite Round), Best Three Ewes (Sharaya Category), Best Three Ewes (Farm Production Category), and Best Najdi Ram.

The festival is supported by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) as part of its strategic plan to enhance the competitiveness of the livestock sector and strengthen its role within the national food security framework.

The results reflected the advanced expertise of UAE livestock breeders in improving local breeds and boosting their productive efficiency, aligning with the country’s vision for sustainable animal production.

The “Best Breeds” competitions are a core feature of the festival, promoting the acquisition of high-yielding, locally adapted breeds and showcasing best practices in animal care, nutrition, and preventive health, which are key criteria used by the judging committee.

These competitions were held alongside the Livestock Auction, a major festival platform that allowed direct buying and selling of exceptional breeds and attracted wide participation from breeders, traders, and industry stakeholders.

The auction contributed to raising the economic value of local animal production and linked competition results to market demand, supporting sustainable livestock ventures and enhancing the competitiveness of national products.

Adel Al Shabeebi, Head of the Livestock Festival Team, highlighted that the auction is a central part of the festival, transforming breeders’ efforts into economic value and motivating continued improvements in quality and productivity. He added that competition results directly influence auction activity, increasing demand for winning and distinguished breeds.

Al Shabeebi noted that the integration of competitions and auctions strengthens the connection between competitiveness and investment, helping build a resilient local production system capable of meeting market needs and reinforcing the contribution of national products to food security.

The total value of the festival’s financial prizes amounts to AED 2.624 million, aimed at rewarding excellence and fostering healthy competition. Organisers also stated that measures were implemented to ensure fair competition, support innovation, and encourage breeders to elevate livestock production standards across the country.
