The economy of Qatar continued to grow in the third quarter of 2025, with real GDP increasing by 2.9 percent, as compared to the third quarter of 2024.

According to a statement issued by the National Planning Council (NPC) on Sunday, this expansion was based primarily on non-hydrocarbon activities, which extended up to 4.4 percent.

Real GDP estimates of the third quarter of 2025 were estimated at QAR 186.1 billion at constant prices compared to QAR 180.9 billion in the third quarter of 2024.

The share of non-hydrocarbon activities in real GDP is 65.5 percent, and value added is QAR 121.9 billion in the third quarter of 2025, equivalent to QAR 116.8 billion in the third quarter of 2024.

However, this is an annual growth rate of 4.4 percent in accordance with the targets of the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3) and the Qatar National Vision 2030.

In the non-hydrocarbon economy, the robust extended activities on a year-on-year basis were construction up to 9.1 percent, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles stood at 8.9 percent, and accommodation and food service activities at 6.4 percent.

The growth indicates the growth of domestic demand, a rise in activities by visitors, and the ongoing implementation of infrastructure and public sector projects, through which service and trade spillovers are positive.

Secretary General of NPC, HE Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, stated that these results reflect “the resilience of the Qatari economy and the continuity of the path of economic diversification, as it achieves real growth […] driven by the strong performance of non-hydrocarbon activities […]. This performance underscores the success of economic and development policies in enhancing the contribution of productive and service sectors, in line with the targets of the Third National Development Strategy, and strengthens the national economy’s ability to achieve sustainable and balanced growth over the medium and long term.”

In general, 15 out of 17 economic activities registered positive growth rates in real terms in the third quarter of 2025, indicating the strength of Qatar’s economic base.

The National Statistics Center of the NPC is actively enhancing its techniques to measure GDP, and new revisions were implemented to the estimates of the third quarter of 2024.

A full replacement of the national accounts of Qatar is currently being undertaken as part of the continuing efforts to ensure that national accounts in the country are aligned with international best practices (System of National Accounts 2008-2025) and are due to be completed by the first quarter of 2026.
