The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia signed three international memoranda of understanding to cooperate in the domain of mineral resources with Chile, Canada, and Brazil.

The signings occurred at the margins of the Fifth International Ministerial Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Mining Affairs, organized as part of the Fifth Future Minerals Forum hosted by Riyadh between January 13 and 15.

This measure is indicative of the Kingdom’s work to widen its global commerce relations and enhance models of technical and investment collaboration in the mining and minerals industry, in accordance with shared interests and the sustainable growth of mineral resources.

The signing ceremonies involved the signing of an MoU with the Ministry of Mines of the Republic of Chile on cooperation in the field of mineral resources, the signing of an MoU with the Department of Natural Resources of Canada on cooperation in the field of mineral resources, and signing of an MoU with the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Federative Republic of Brazil on cooperation in the field of mineral resources.

It is noted that the fifth edition of the International Ministerial Meeting had the highest international representation of its kind globally, with over 100 countries, including all the members of the G20, the EU, and 59 multilateral organizations, industry associations, and non-governmental organizations having participated.

This is in line with the high status the Ministerial Meeting has acquired as one of the major international forums to integrate visions, establish partnerships, and come up with viable solutions towards addressing the challenges confronting the international mining and minerals industry.
