The Royal Commission of AlUla has entered into a memorandum of cooperation with SURJ Sports Investment to consider the creation of sports programs and content in AlUla, consider the possibilities of joint creation, and the prospects of organizing high-quality sporting events, which will enhance the status of AlUla as a destination for sports and major events worldwide.

The memorandum aims to provide a structure for further cooperation in the sphere of sports investment, the mobilization of initiatives and programs in the context of hosting tournaments and events, and the search for opportunities in the investment portfolio of SURJ, according to the strategic directions of the commission activity and contributing to the diversification of the sports environment in the governorate.

The collaboration points comprise identifying the prospects of hosting and launching the Professional Fighters League MENA series in AlUla, advancing tennis and polo, and cycling, athletics, and show jumping.

This also involves the evaluation of investment opportunities in complementary sporting content, recovery and rehabilitation programs, training camps, and the attraction of international championships, which help in enhancing the presence of AlUla in international sporting calendars.

The memorandum stipulates collaboration in the assessment and development of polo in AlUla, such as conducting research on the prospect of granting multi-year hosting rights, which begins in 2027 as part of the AlUla long-term vision of developing equestrian and heritage sports.

The Royal Commission of AlUla and SURJ Sports Investment underlined the need for integration to create and build year-round promotional and activation opportunities and utilize the intellectual property rights and content of SURJ, which helps to create a multi-sport ecosystem in AlUla that will support its economic and developmental goals.

The commission reiterated its interest in intensifying its strategic partnerships and enhancing the role of the sports sector as one of the primary sources of sustainable development, as AlUla has been a top destination for sporting and cultural events on the regional and global scales.
