The International Charity Organisation (ICO) announced that its Ramadan “Iftar” initiative has reached over 600 villages across multiple Muslim countries, distributing 225,000 iftar meals and more than 16,000 food parcels during the first half of Ramadan.

Dr. Khaled Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the organisation, stated that the project reflects the UAE’s humanitarian ethos and its commitment to supporting those in need. He added that field teams and overseas offices intensified their efforts from the start of Ramadan to ensure that assistance was delivered to beneficiaries promptly and with dignity.

Al Khaja highlighted that the organisation expanded the initiative this year to reach more beneficiaries in response to growing humanitarian needs in several countries. Distributions also targeted workers within the UAE and low-income families.

He noted that the programme is carried out through coordinated mechanisms with relevant authorities in beneficiary countries to ensure efficient delivery and precise targeting, in accordance with local regulations and international humanitarian standards. A field monitoring system has also been put in place to evaluate performance and measure impact.

The organisation continues to implement additional Ramadan and humanitarian initiatives, including Zakat distribution, Eid clothing support, and assistance for urgent humanitarian cases, alongside development projects such as constructing mosques, schools, homes, and health centres, as well as drilling wells.

Al Khaja expressed gratitude to donors and benefactors both inside and outside the UAE, whose contributions have allowed the organisation to reach millions of beneficiaries, and called for continued support during the remainder of Ramadan.
