Jordan on Tuesday strongly denounced the targeting of the UAE Consulate General in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
In a statement reported by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs highlighted the need to uphold international law and comply with the 1949 Geneva Conventions as well as the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The ministry noted that these agreements mandate the protection of diplomatic missions and their personnel.
The ministry also reiterated Jordan’s solidarity with and firm support for the United Arab Emirates.
