President Nikos Christodoulides of the Republic of Cyprus received H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a working visit to Nicosia. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Cyprus and its people, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.
President Christodoulides, in turn, conveyed his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and wished continued prosperity and wellbeing for the UAE and its people, reaffirming the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The discussions addressed the repercussions of the unprovoked Iranian missile attacks targeting the UAE, the Republic of Cyprus, and several sisterly and friendly countries across the region.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed that his visit aimed to reaffirm the UAE’s full solidarity with the Republic of Cyprus following these unprovoked Iranian missile attacks.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah also expressed his sincere appreciation to President Nikos Christodoulides for Cyprus’ strong solidarity with the UAE.
The meeting reviewed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across a number of sectors, including the economy, trade and investment, as well as renewable energy, technology, tourism and education, in support of sustainable development in both countries.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the strength of the strategic relations between the UAE and Cyprus and their steady growth across multiple sectors. He noted the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the friendly Republic of Cyprus to support the two countries’ aspirations for comprehensive development and greater economic prosperity for their peoples.
The meeting also discussed cooperation between the UAE and Europe, particularly in light of Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026.
Both sides emphasised the importance of the strategic partnership between the UAE and the European Union, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation and constructive dialogue to broaden partnership opportunities across various sectors, serving shared interests and supporting regional and global peace, stability and prosperity.
