Aldar Properties and Mubadala Investment Company have acquired ‘The Link’ at Masdar City for AED654 million, marking a significant move to expand their jointly owned portfolio of high-quality, income-generating assets.
The acquisition, completed through a joint venture established in 2024, reflects sustained institutional confidence in Abu Dhabi’s real estate market and its broader innovation-led economic strategy.
‘The Link’ spans around 32,000 square meters of net leasable area across five buildings and is fully occupied by a mix of forward-looking tenants. These include Masdar and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, reinforcing the asset’s positioning within a knowledge-driven ecosystem.
Designed as a premium, sustainability-focused development, the asset features Grade A LEED Platinum office space, a net-zero energy headquarters building, residential units, and a multi-use hall, making it a central component of Masdar City’s integrated urban environment.
Commenting on the deal, Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri of Mubadala said the investment reflects strong confidence in Abu Dhabi’s long-term growth trajectory and its expanding innovation economy. He added that the partnership with Aldar focuses on scaling sustainable infrastructure that delivers both financial returns and strategic value while supporting the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions.
Aldar Group CEO Talal Al Dhiyebi described the acquisition as a natural extension of the company’s collaboration with Mubadala, highlighting the strength of Abu Dhabi’s real estate fundamentals. He noted that the asset’s fully leased nature enhances portfolio resilience while increasing exposure to one of the region’s most advanced sustainable developments.
From Masdar City’s perspective, CEO Ahmed Baghoum said, ‘The Link’ strengthens the city’s evolution as a hub for clean energy, advanced technology, and research, aligning with its long-term vision of integrating sustainability with economic growth.
The transaction underscores a broader trend of capital flowing into high-quality, future-oriented assets in Abu Dhabi, particularly those aligned with sustainability, innovation, and long-term income stability.
