The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has confirmed the successful completion of a prisoner exchange between the United States and the Russian Federation, following mediation efforts led by the UAE.
The exchange, involving one U.S. citizen and one Russian citizen, took place in Abu Dhabi and was overseen by representatives from the relevant authorities of both nations.
In an official statement, the Ministry expressed its gratitude to the governments of the United States and Russia for their trust in the UAE’s mediation role and for selecting Abu Dhabi as the site for the handover. The Ministry noted that the operation was carried out in full coordination between the two countries.
The UAE emphasized that the decision to hold the exchange in Abu Dhabi reflects the strong diplomatic ties both nations share with the Emirates. The Ministry also voiced its hope that the success of this initiative would contribute to reducing tensions and fostering dialogue and mutual understanding, paving the way for greater regional and international security and stability.
